Can a G1 or G2 driver tow a trailer in Ontario?
Yes. Ontario's MTO towing handbook says a valid Class G1, G2, G or higher licence can tow a trailer with a gross vehicle weight of up to 4,600 kg. Graduated-licence conditions still apply, and vehicle, trailer and equipment limits are separate.

Yes. The MTO towing handbook includes a valid G2 licence for towing a trailer with gross vehicle weight up to 4,600 kg. The driver must still comply with the conditions that apply to a G2 licence.

The towing handbook describes the threshold in terms of the trailer's gross vehicle weight. Treat it as a licensing limit, not as the tow vehicle's capacity. Your actual vehicle may have a much lower manufacturer rating.

2. Can the vehicle tow it?
The vehicle's configuration-specific trailer rating, payload, GCWR and other manufacturer limits can be more restrictive than the licensing threshold.
